YOGA NIDRA AND GENTLE YOGA
5 WEEK COURSE WITH ANJ FISHER
AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 27 ~ WEDNESDAYS 5.25 - 6.55
An invitation to join this immersive In-Person program is offered at BHYS. Strictly limited to 13 Places.
ABOUT: This course is an introduction to the deeper aspects of Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra, known as Yogic Sleep, is a form of lying down sleep meditation. For many, it's a surprise to learn that traditional Yoga Nidra practice is quite different to a short relaxed savasana (often called yoga nidra) at the end of a yoga class. The complete practice is so much more and we are excited to offer it to you in this course!
Perhaps you have tried a meditation or Yoga Nidra app and would like to go deeper or to hear a guiding voice that's just right for you. Or, you have attended a general yoga class where there is only enough time for a short practice - not a full version of Yoga Nidra - one that is at least 30 minutes. This course has been specially created for you to experience Yoga Nidra with longer sessions that allow your body and mind to rest deeply.
Over 5 sequential weeks, you will be immersed in YN and experience the cumulative benefits of an ongoing practice under the wise guidance of Anj, a qualified Yoga Nidra teacher.
Each 90-minute class will include a yoga practice followed by a short talk and series of beautifully guided Yoga Nidra Practices.
You will learn
to improve your sleep quality. Did you know …research shows that a single hour of YN is as productive as four hours of conventional sleep. With continued practice, many report that their conventional sleep improves, or if wakeful during the night, this is a great practice to help guide you back into sleep.

COURSE STRUCTURE
Each class is 90-minutes and is divided into two parts: Gentle Yoga and Yoga Nidra Practice and Talks.
The first part of the class is dedicated to gentle yoga incorporating some stretches and restorative poses to ground and release tension in the body. Physically moving and grounding the body before lying down to rest will enhance your Yoga Nidra practice. The yoga postures are accessible to all - suited to new and regular students. This section is followed by a short talk and introduction to various styles of yoga nidra practice for different outcomes.
In the second part, you will get to lie down, relax and be guided through a series of uniquely guided practices created just for you. An extended 30-35 minute guided Yoga Nidra practice. The full practice comprises a series of body, breath and awareness techniques. You will be guided through the body, which will take you into a deep relaxed state, taking you from the thinking mind into the feeling body. *Time will be allocated on the first week to help those new to this practice or new to yoga to find a comfortable, warm reclining posture.
We wish everyone could have a full experience of Yoga Nidra!
